New Lephalale Owner Couldn’t Refuse the Scooters Pizza Franchise Opportunity

With a strong business background, Karel de Vries, who took ownership of Scooters Pizza Lephalale in March 2013, aims to be the number one food destination in the area as his goal is to ensure that only the best is delivered in terms of food and service.

“It has been my lifelong dream to be a business owner and when the opportunity to be a Scooters Pizza franchisee in my community came knocking, I couldn’t refuse. There are many advantages of taking over an existing business model and store, including a legacy of operational success, and staff familiarity with the brand and an understanding their job roles. The established relationships with customers are also priceless,” De Vries shares.

According to the CEO of Taste Holdings food division, Christo Calitz Karel has already shown some great progress. “Thus far, Karel has demonstrated a great understanding of the franchising model as well as the correct management approach. I am highly impressed with the way his store is being operated and look forward to seeing his success among the Lephalale community.”

De Vries’ management approach is centred around the idea of growing all staff to function on a management level from their first day. “I believe that guiding staff into becoming part of the management team is a good strategy as it opens the playing field for hidden talents to come forward and to also harnesses their growth as leaders. My employees know that their hard work will pay off and what they put in is what they get out. As I supply them with the guidance to excel as leaders and ensure that a high level of open communication, my store is flourishing.”

Since taking over ownership, De Vries is pleased with the support and response received from the community. He chuckles that many customers were surprised to see him as the new owner of Scooters Pizza as they were used to his previous position as a bank manager in their small community. “Based on the overwhelming positive support I have received thus far, Scooters Pizza Lephalale is well on its way to the top and I look forward to bringing my town a slice of the good life.

“As the new owner I plan to continue to be hands on by managing the store myself, always believing in my staff and product, and exceeding the expectations of my customers,” De Vries concludes.
