Maxi’s Named Franchisor of the Year
Maxi’s restaurants underlined its burgeoning status as an outstanding food franchise, when it was named Franchisor of the Year at the Franchise Association of South Africa (FASA) Awards gala dinner that took place on Saturday, 8 May 2010.
Maxi’s was nominated in two categories, Brand Builder of the Year and Franchisor of the Year. Taste Holdings CEO Food Division, Christo Calitz expressed his delight with winning the award.
This award is an outstanding achievement for Maxi’s, not only as a brand but as a network of dedicated individuals and franchisees, who have contributed directly to this success. Like in any industry, especially one that managed to come out relatively unscathed after the recession, we had some tough competition. The fact that we came out best amongst them is very significant for the industry as it highlights that what we are doing, is what is working. It is this recognition that has made all this hard work worthwhile.
In 2009, Maxi’s was a finalist at the FASA awards for Brand Builder of the Year and Franchisor of the Year. Calitz attributed the franchise going one step further this year to the efforts put in by all of Maxi’s franchisees.
Running a successful franchise is not a simple process, and requires an exceptional amount of hard work, time and dedication. Credit must, therefore, be given to all our franchisees for their tremendous influence, positive attitude, determination, and unwavering commitment to the Maxi’s brand. They have spent numerous hours building new outlets, training staff members, delivering great customer service, and constantly striving for excellence and innovation in our offering.
Credit must also be given to Maxis head office staff as much of our success is owed to their strong work ethic, professionalism and positivity, which proliferate throughout our franchise network, adds Calitz
The FASA Awards for Excellence in Franchising, held annually since 1990, remains a highlight on the franchise industry’s calendar and brings together the association’s members and their guests in honouring the top achievers in the field of ethical franchising and business practices.
FASA represents franchisors, franchisees and the professional organisations that service the franchise industry. As the only recognised representative body of the rapidly growing franchise industry, FASA’s aim is to ensure that its members practice ethical franchising, and that it continues to develop and expand the business environment for franchising in South Africa. Calitz was inducted into FASA’s Hall of Fame last year.
Calitz concludes that the FASA award will see the Maxi’s brand growing from strength to strength.
Over the past two years, Maxi’s brand awareness has grown amongst key stakeholders including entrepreneurs, potential franchisees, consumers, landlords and developers. We aim to develop this even further, and firmly demonstrate our desire to be the top food franchise in the country.
