IQS Windhoek reaches 500 customers
Name: Gerhard Mohrmann
Franchise: IQS – I Quit Smoking
Why did you go down the franchise route? And why did you choose your franchise?
I was looking for something to add to my income and give stability to my financial situation. Being in corporate employ all my life, I knew I didn’t have the skills to just open a new business and not risk all my savings. I started looking at franchises and noticed the potential of a quit smoking business where there will be a constant stream of customers who are desperate for a product that works.
The IQS business is not as expensive and the return on investment in less than 12 months is fantastic.
The IQS Franchise model has been around for 12 years and is now operational in more than 35 countries with more countries opening up every year which means it is successful world wide.
With NO ongoing royalties and NO ongoing management fees this model was very attractive.
What did you do before taking up a franchise?
I work as a professional engineer at a communications company. I tried some small businesses before but sadly lost the money and the drive to continue.
How did you raise the finance?
I fortunately saved money in my access bond and had just enough money to purchase the IQS franchise.
What training and support did you receive initially and ongoing?
An international trainer flew all the way from Holland to do our 3 day training on location. Ongoing training is available via e-mail, marketing software and new technology upgrades are available, mostly for free.
What is a typical day for you as a franchisee?
We work only with bookings, so the day is pretty much planned. New customers are going through a pre set presentation, pay for the treatment course and we do the treatment right away after which up to 90% are smoke free. Customers require a 2nd and sometimes a 3rd treatment and they also visit on a schedule. Information about the treatment is sent to prospective customers via e-mail and they make bookings by phone or e-mail.
Marketing is monitored and adjusted as per need.
What challenges have you faced?
Basically none, we achieved 200% of our expectations during the first 3 months, maintains 125% of projections over the last 16 months and the treatments work very well. What we didn’t expect was the personal satisfaction from customers who thank us daily wherever we encounter them. More than 50% of our customers come from referrals.
Has becoming a franchisee changed your life, if so how?
YES! We have expanded our operations now to 4 more sub franchises as we are now the master franchisees of Namibia and South Africa. We have added suitable by products and other services and our income has grown beyond our dreams.
What advice would you give to someone thinking of buying their first franchise?
Make sure you buy into a stable and well branded franchise. Make sure you select one with low ongoing costs and with great support.
What are your plans for the future?
We want to open more sub franchises in South Africa and naturally help them to enjoy the same success we have.
Would you do it again?
