Destination: Maxi’s on the Bridge x 3!
The Bridge in Midrand has become home to the latest Maxi’s restaurant in the burgeoning network, well, three actually. Formerly occupied by BJs, the site now houses two Maxi’s takeaways, which are located on the forecourts of the Caltex petrol station and are open 24 hours a day, plus a 300-seater restaurant on the landmark bridge itself.
Given the fact that about 1 million people pass the site every month, the location not only bodes well for the franchisee’s business but also provides valuable exposure for the Maxi’s brand.
Franchisee Ravi Moopen is an old hand in the business. His restaurant management company operates outlets including Ocean Basket, Kauai, and now Maxi’s. Says Ravi, “I have many successful restaurants; over the years, we have won awards for quality and service. I believe, however, that the Maxi’s brand has the potential to become the fast food restaurant brand of choice in South Africa.”
Maxi’s MD, Christo Calitz, shares Ravi’s enthusiasm. “We are very excited about the Bridge revamp. Our extensive menu, quality food and friendly atmosphere coupled with The Bridge site offers a new way of ‘bridging’ the gap between quality food and convenience,” he says.
Initially, the agreement between Caltex and Maxi’s covered the 8 existing BJ’s sites located at Caltex garages throughout South Africa but the possibility exists to extend this ultimately to about 13 locations. For this reason as well as to fill opportunities at other attractive sites, Maxi’s are looking for franchisees.
