Burger King Franchise Opens Their 21st Store

Cape Town – Burger King Franchise opened its 21st South African store on the historic Greenmarket Square in Cape Town on Monday 22 September.

“Not only is it situated within walking distance from Long Street, but there are many hotels and residential developments nearby,” said Jaye Sinclair, CEO Burger King South Africa told FIN24.

So far the Burger King has created about 1 250 jobs in SA.

“For between 60% and 65% of our Burger King staff in SA it is their first job,” said Sinclair.

“We want 100 stores in SA by 2015 and with the opening of this 21st one, we now have the critical mass for training towards our 100 store aim.”

Currently there are ten Burger King stores in Gauteng, ten in the Western Cape and one in KwaZulu-Natal. Sinclair said by mid-2015 the company might start expanding to other SA provinces as well.

“We are well on track to source 92% of our supply chain locally in SA,” said Sinclair.

Burger King is about to make a deal with Rainbow Chicken and has already made a deal with Nol Mayonnaise and Excellent Meat Processing Plant

“We are now investigating other markets in Southern Africa too and are busy evaluating 77 sites in terms of partnership with Sasol,” said Sinclair.
